Asbury & Asbury is writer Nick Asbury and artist/designer Sue Asbury. Nick works as a freelance writer for branding and design projects. Sue is a fine artist and graphic designer. Nick and Sue work together on their own self-published projects.
Nick Asbury is a writer for branding and design. He has been described in a Creative Review profile piece as ‘the designer’s writer’ and is one of 53 writers featured in The Copy Book: How some of the best advertising writers in the world write their advertising (D&AD/Taschen). In 2016, he co-authored the revised and updated edition of A Smile in the Mind: Witty thinking in Graphic Design. He writes for the design and creative press, and is an active poet and reviewer.
Sue Asbury is a graphic designer turned painter – follow her work on Instagram. She enjoys exploring the everyday and the overlooked, working mainly in acrylics, using expressive marks and often incorporating the drawn line. Before making the transition to art, she worked for 15 years as a graphic designer for several London agencies.
Nick and Sue have worked together since 2002. Projects include Perpetual Disappointments Diary (Pan Macmillan/Chronicle 2016), Corpoetics (a collection of corporate copy turned into poetry), Pentone (the verbal equivalent of Pantone), and Mr Blog (a blog documenting all the ‘Mr’ shops on Britain’s high streets).
